Research overview
5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), not a peptide. NNMT consumes SAM, the cell's universal methyl donor, and diverts nicotinamide away from NAD+ salvage. Preclinical research in mice has examined its effects on intracellular NAD+ and SAM and on fat-cell lipogenesis. There are no human trials.
